((Ponyo is basicly a japanese retelling of “The Little Mermaid” With the Role of King Triton split between ponyo’s mother and father. Ponyo is a film aimed at the youngest and has no villain. In the same way “My neighbor Totoro” had no villian.

You could say that with the magic potion wearing off, that time is the villain of Ponyo but that’s a bit philisophical.

Darth Vader is not the same, he ended up doing very evil things, while the things the father did were really just attempts to get his daughter back.

Darth Vader did not Kill Obi Wan to get his wife back.))
